Thermoplastics and Fluoropolymers
Thermoplastics are a large group of various polymers that have significant differences in chemical compatibility and thermal properties. Fluopropolymers are a category of thermoplastics that have the highest chemical compatibility. At Andronaco Industries, we produce pipes, valves, fittings, hoses, pumps, ancillary equipment, and tanks with engineered thermoplastic linings that can handle various corrosive and hazardous liquids.
Value of Thermoplastic and Fluoropolymer Linings
When chemical compatibility and corrosion resistance are top of mind, and high alloy metal piping systems are expensive and/or difficult to obtain, lined composite piping could be the most suitable solution. Our Durcor PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) or FEP (Fluorinatedethylenepropylene) lined composite piping system can handle temperatures of -40 degrees to 300 degrees Fahrenheit and pressures up to 275 psi. Furthermore, Durcor pipe can be treated like schedule 40 steel pipe in terms of support spans, with one third the weight of steel, and lower coefficient of thermal expansion.
PE (Polyethylene) is a thermoplastic used in our Poly-Water and Poly-Chem valves. Our corrosion-free valves have fused body shells that prevent atmospheric leakage and feature a smooth full bore for superior flow characteristics.
Uses for Thermoplastic and Fluoropolymer Linings
Piping systems with nonreactive thermoplastic fluoropolymer linings are excellent choices for handling highly corrosive or high purity fluids in industries such as:
- Chemical processing including Chlor-alkali
- Energy including green hydrogen
- Fertilizer plants
- Petrochemical companies
- Pharmaceuticals
- Refining
- Semiconductors
- Water & wastewater treatment
We also build specially designed fluid handling systems for the pharmaceutical, chemical, and ultra-pure water related industries like semiconductor, chlor-alkali, and green hydrogen.
